We started Stattys in 2010 without a clear plan—just a simple idea: to create a useful tool for workshop facilitators and trainers. Our first product, Stattys Notes, was designed to be a more flexible alternative to traditional pinboards and moderation cards.
Back then, most facilitators used cards pinned to boards. These setups often looked rigid and uninviting. Once a card was pinned, it felt like the idea was fixed and couldn’t be moved. That’s where Stattys Notes came in—they stick to smooth surfaces without pins, making it easy to move and reshape ideas during creative sessions.
Early adopters quickly saw the benefits. They started using our notes regularly and even spread the word for us. They became our biggest supporters and helped grow our community.
We also noticed that while many people loved the idea of movable notes, some felt unsure about visualizing their thoughts in this way—it was new to them. That’s when a friend introduced us to the book Business Model Generation by Alexander Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur.
The book was a game changer. It used visuals, sketches, and a clear structure to explain business models. It also included the Business Model Canvas—a printable poster to map out ideas. This approach made complex concepts simple and engaging.
We realized Stattys Notes were the perfect match for tools like the Business Model Canvas. Our notes became the hands-on tools to bring those methods to life. That connection led to a strong partnership with Strategyzer, who have since created many more tools to help businesses grow and innovate.
